Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
| Q. |
Do you have a customer satisfaction or refund policy? |
| |
If a client were really not happy with me, I would not expect them to pay anything. |
|
| Q. |
What are your qualifications? What is your education background? |
| |
MS in Investment Management from Boston University; BA in economics and history from Tufts University; Certificate in Financial Planning from the College of Financial Planning |
|
| Q. |
What is your approach to financial planning? |
| |
Comprehensive, values-based, fully independent planning - not product centric |
|
| Q. |
What services do you offer? |
| |
typically, clients approach us from 3 different scenarios - 1. one time consult for specific items, 2. Rising Star - client who wants full service but doesn't need the full planning service until the future, 3. WHA Client Community client - limited number of fully served families/clients - receive continuous service throughout the year and our super diligent checkpoint process |
|
| Q. |
How many clients do you currently manage? |
| |
I keep my client community small on purpose. We have 30ish WHA Community Clients, 10ish "Rising Stars", and numerous others who have hired us for a one time or short term consult |
|
| Q. |
Will you be the only person working with me? |
| |
I have a team both in and outside of my office. My assistant Lauren helps with all kinds of administrative tasks. My strategic partner Vincent helps me develop complex client scenarios; and my team of impressive subject matter experts helps me plan various legal, tax, investment, and insurance scenarios that affect the people I serve. |
|
| Q. |
How are you compensated? How will I pay for your services? |
| |
Walnut Hill Advisors, LLC is an RIA - we charge based on either hourly fee, flat fee, retainer, or % of assets depending on client scenario. |
|
| Q. |
If you are going to manage my account, will you obtain my permission every time you buy or sell something? |
| |
If that's what you want - I work either way. |
|
| Q. |
Do you offer any guaranteed results? |
| |
That would be illegal I think or at least unethical. However, if someone were not happy with my services, I would not expect them to compensate me. |
|
| Q. |
How much risk should I be willing to take? |
| |
I have developed plans for people who are afraid of their own shadow, and other plans for assertive, goal-seeking go getters. We will outline the details in your plan and Investment Policy Statement |
|
| Q. |
Have you ever been charged with any breaches? |
|
| Q. |
What services do you provide? What are your specialties? |
| |
typically, clients approach us from 3 different scenarios - 1. one time consult for specific items, 2. Rising Star - retained clients who meet us for one annual financial "physical" per year 3. WHA Client Community client - limited number of fully served families/clients - receive continuous service throughout the year and our super diligent checkpoint process. |
|
| Q. |
What is your experience? How many clients do you currently manage? |
| |
16 years - We keep a small total client base on purpose in order to be available to our clients. Currently we serve about 50 total clients (at former firm, previously managed directly/indirectly over 2k accounts - not congruent with a high level of service) |
|
| Q. |
What financial institution(s) do you represent? |
| |
None - independent Registered Investment Advisor - I represent my clients' interest |
|
| Q. |
How do you charge for your services? |
| |
fee - hourly, flat consult, retainer, % of assets - depends on what you need and what works best for both of us |
|
| Q. |
Do you provide a free initial consultation? |
|
| Q. |
Why should I choose you as my financial advisor? |
| |
You shouldn't until you meet me! Then you will know either way. I think a personality match is as important as making sure a potential advisor for you is qualified. |
|
| Q. |
What are your qualifications? |
| |
MS in Investment Management from Boston University; BA in economics and history from Tufts University; Certificate in Financial Planning from the College of Financial Planning |
|
| Q. |
What is your approach to 401 K plan rollovers? |
| |
rollovers are not an island - they are part of the overall plan. Recommendations for a rollover should be made with full due diligence on your goals and current status. |
|
| Q. |
How long does the process of rolling over a 401K plan usually take? |
| |
Most companies, if paperwork is done correctly, will roll the money out within 2-4 weeks. |
|
| Q. |
What financial institutions do you represent? |
| |
I am an independent Registered Investment Advisor - therefore I represent my clients |
|
| Q. |
How many years of experience do you have? |
|
| Q. |
What are your fees for this service? |
| |
Depends on what works best for the relationship - I can do a one time flat consulting fee, by the hour, or % if you want us to actively manage your account. |
|
| Q. |
How many 401K rollover clients do you currently manage? |
| |
Most of my clients have rolled over something since working with me - 401k ,IRA, CD, Annuity etc - |
|
| Q. |
Why should I roll over my 401K plan to your firm? |
| |
As an RIA, you don't roll the money "to" my firm. I am simply an advisor on the account. For your protection, I do not have a full power of attorney over the account and we custody the assets with a reputable third party (e.g. TD Ameritrade). therefore, there is no way I can touch your money - and you can end our relationship at any time - no lock in. |
|
| Q. |
Do you provide a free initial consultation? |
|
|
|
