Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
| Q. |
Do you have a customer satisfaction or refund policy? |
| |
We do not use products with surrender charges or fees. If clients choose to work with other advisors, we do not restrict that movement. |
|
| Q. |
What are your qualifications? What is your education background? |
| |
Both planners in our office are Certified Financial Planner (tm) practitioners and hold securities and insurance licenses. |
|
| Q. |
What is your approach to financial planning? |
| |
We approach what can be a very complex topic and reduce it to understandable information. We take the approach that a client should be familiar with all aspects of their financial plan, including aspects not directly related to their investments. |
|
| Q. |
What services do you offer? |
| |
Financial Planning, Investment Management, 401(k) advisory services, life/disability/Long Term care insurance, |
|
| Q. |
How many clients do you currently manage? |
| |
Approximately 200 active clients. |
|
| Q. |
Will you be the only person working with me? |
| |
We work in a team enviornment, so our three person office will be familiar with your case but you will have one main contact. |
|
| Q. |
How are you compensated? How will I pay for your services? |
| |
We charge fees for our financial planning services. For investment management, we work primarily on a fee basis, but will work in a commission enviornment if it makes financial sense for the client. |
|
| Q. |
If you are going to manage my account, will you obtain my permission every time you buy or sell something? |
| |
Typically, yes. An exception might be for regular quarterly rebalancing. |
|
| Q. |
Do you offer any guaranteed results? |
| |
Yes, we guarantee that you will pay taxes, and we guarantee that you'll die someday! Seriously, other than some limited use of insurance products, we make no guarantees. |
|
| Q. |
How much risk should I be willing to take? |
| |
The amount of risk an investor takes is an individual decision. It can even vary between husband and wife. |
|
| Q. |
Have you ever been charged with any breaches? |
|
| Q. |
What are your qualifications? |
| |
Both planners in our office are Certified Financial Planner (tm) practitioners and hold securities and insurance licenses. |
|
| Q. |
What is your approach to 401 K plan rollovers? |
| |
Because many 401(k) rollovers will eventually turn into a "retirement paycheck" we approach each rollover from that standpoint. A younger person with a rollover is likely not to need immediate distributions, and thus might have a different investment goal. |
|
| Q. |
How long does the process of rolling over a 401K plan usually take? |
| |
Much depends on the sponsor of the 401(k) and their paperwork requirements. It's not an overnight process, but can generally be accomplished within 30 days. |
|
| Q. |
What financial institutions do you represent? |
| |
As an independent Registered Investment Advisor, we have access to numerous institutions and are not subject to just one or two providers. |
|
| Q. |
How many years of experience do you have? |
| |
8 years, backed by the principal of the firm with 34 years of experience. |
|
| Q. |
What are your fees for this service? |
| |
Generally, we charge an asset managment fee of 1% per year, that encompasses all other fees (trading, reporting, etc). These fees are debited directly from the account, and depending on your tax situation, may be deductible. |
|
| Q. |
How many 401K rollover clients do you currently manage? |
|
| Q. |
Why should I roll over my 401K plan to your firm? |
| |
Because we charge fees, we feel that we are able to provide independent, objective advice about your 401(k) rollover without the sales pressure of a commission based broker. |
|
| Q. |
Do you provide a free initial consultation? |
| |
Absolutely! We also have evening appointments available. |
