Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
| Q. |
What are your qualifications? What is your education background? |
| |
Our firm brings you varied financial experience that ranges from the more speculative to the most conservative standards of fiduciary care for charitable trust investment planning. I have a BA in philosophy from Washington University and a Doctorate from Logan University. I spent a few years as a clinical research director and apply that knowledge to risk reduction for retirees. |
|
| Q. |
What is your approach to financial planning? |
| |
Our clients realize that they need to treat their nest egg as if it were a large trust or pension fund. Large institutions have very sensible rules and techniques that put a sound foundation underneath their capital. Retail methods, like chasing dividends or returns, or following unproven methods are for amateur thrill seekers. While you should have fun in retirement, managing money is not a game. |
|
| Q. |
What services do you offer? |
| |
Together with Mike Kickham, CFP and Jeffrey Bremer, JD, we offer clients a comprehensive range of services that includes planning for spending and reducing debt, investment management, tax planning, risk and insurance determinations, and estate and legacy creation. It's pretty holistic. You don’t have to do it all at once, but you should put it all in place eventually. |
|
| Q. |
Will you be the only person working with me? |
| |
We've found that it takes a village to protect a retiree. Mike Kickham is a certified Financial Planner who will review and approve your retirement plan to make sure it conforms to the high standards of the prudent investor laws. I'll work with you to talk about retirement risk and rewards. Jeffrey Bremer is an estate planning attorney, who can help you further protect what you have earned. |
|
| Q. |
How much risk should I be willing to take? |
| |
The greatest service we can offer long term investors is teaching them about risk and how to handle it. We use an advanced planning method which actually includes planning and action steps for large market drops like the ones we've already had in 2003 and 2008. Good planning includes provisions for bad times. |
|
| Q. |
Have you ever been charged with any breaches? |
|
| Q. |
What financial institution(s) do you represent? |
| |
We're an independent firm. You can be sure that our advice will not be based on any contractual obligations we have with financial service providers. Much of our time is spent searching the universe of possible investment choices to see how our clients can better protect their wealth and capture market returns across the globe. |
|
| Q. |
Do you provide a free initial consultation? |
| |
We're happy to sit down and chat, or talk over the phone in order to see if it makes sense for us to work together. |
