  • Will you be the only person working with me? If you choose to work us, I would be your advisor. You also will have the advantage of having ongoing support from our excellent staff and be able to ask additional questions from another advisor should I/we be unavailable at the time.
  • If you are going to manage my account, will you obtain my permission every time you buy or sell something? We prefer to discuss transactions with clients prior to making trades. This is done through quarterly face to face meetings, or phone meetings. We also will reach out to clients in the interim should a change be necessary.
  • How much risk should I be willing to take? At StoneRidge, our first goal is to help protect your wealth; then we try to grow it carefully. Risk Tolerance is the anxiety and fear of losing money. While the industry applies such general terms as Aggressive, Moderate, or Conservative, we recognize that each client has unique and personal feelings of concern.

Van Mason, CFP®, CLU, MBA

Van Mason is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER" professional, counseling individuals, professional practices and small business owners as they transition towards retirement. His mission statement is simple: Integrity First, Planning Second, and Product Third.

Van received his bachelors degree from Portland State University in 1971, spending his junior year at the University of Pavia, in Italy. His Master of Business Administration is from the University of Oregon.

Vans comprehensive grasp of financial issues originates from his role as Partner and President of Mason-Daane-Hucke, Inc. He guided the development of this construction products firm as it grew to incorporate three additional companies with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. While the overall experience in this industry was very positive, Van felt that the distribution of products lacked any personal involvement in peoples lives. He sold his partnership interests in 1997, and soon established himself as a leader in the financial advisory profession.
