Does Your Advisor Need to Be Local in Times of Social Separation?

When searching for a financial advisor, one of the many factors you may want to consider is location. You may have the initial tendency to only look for advisors within a close proximity to your house. However, for most situations there is no reason not to broaden your horizons. Especially today, when limiting person-to-person contact is important, you should know that it is very easy to tele-communicate with a financial advisor. Social separation does not need to force you to put your finances on the backburner! There are many advisors across the country that are more than happy to help you achieve your financial goals.

Embrace New Technological Norms

There was once a time in which most people’s advisors were a short drive away, and most financial decisions were made in person. With the technology available nowadays, it has never been easier to consult with your advisor from the comfort of your own home. Through methods such as call, text, email and online portal interaction, it is rarely, if ever, required to stop into an advisor’s office. Many required documents can either be electronically signed or faxed. If you feel especially comforted by seeing the face of who is managing your finances, advisors are also able to use video conferencing. Although there was once a need to sit across from your financial advisor, that need has been fulfilled by the simple day-to-day usage of technology.

Your Ideal Advisor Could be Anywhere

One of, if not, the biggest, reasons to broaden your search is that your local search may not include an advisor who can offer you what will maximize your satisfaction. Odds are that somewhere, at some time, an advisor has treated the same situation or portfolio that you are currently in. Why not expand your search to potentially include an advisor like this, who has seen your situation before? Different advisors have access to different products, so it may be beneficial to research multiple advisors both near and far who have access to a wide assortment of different products to offer. Advisors in different localities may have a diverse history of clients that leaves them well equipped to handle your finances. Don’t let what’s right in front of you blind you from what’s best for you!

Advisors are Ready for You

As you may already know, the financial future of the market is unpredictable. Although this is always true to a degree, current events have made the market even harder to predict. This is why now more than ever; it is important to trust a professional. Advisors are educated on how to handle economic changes, and they are more than happy to share that expertise with you. Without even leaving your house, you have the ability to speak to numerous advisors about what you should do next. You could very easily use this temporary time spent at home to speak with an advisor who suits your needs. Don’t let market news stress you out when advisors are fully equipped to lift this burden off of your shoulders!

Given these points, you can see that you do not need to limit your advisor search to someone down the road from you. It is best to not only assess local advisors, but also advisors outside of your region. With this in mind, begin your search for a qualified financial advisor today. You work hard for your money, so do not limit yourself from earning the return you deserve!
