I am an Investment Adviser Representative of Royal Fund Management. I like to think of myself as a "financial wellness advisor" specializing in helping my clients create, grow, and watch over their income. More often than not, financial planning and advice is a result of being educated. Having been a facilitator to college student learning and tabbed with the wonderful task of teaching management, budgeting and finance classes, I use my prior education experience to develop a plan that is tailored for you. Subsequently, as a fiduciary, I have the responsibility to act in your best interest just as I had the responsibility to act in my students best interests.

Work Experience: | As a long-life sports enthusiast, I began my career in the sport management spectrum. That carried over to obtaining my PhD and teaching at South Dakota State University for 12 years. However, my wife and I were wanting to relocate back to Western Iowa to be closer to family. After a few years in the insurance business, I expanded my career to include becoming an Investment Adviser Representative and the past four years I have been doing both; insurance agent and financial advisor. The nice thing about being able to do both is it takes some of the potential bias out the planning process. The other nice thing is that I am able to create some unique income plans that other companies are typically not able to do. For example I can assist getting help with your 401(k) or developing a repair strategy for your investments, I may also be able to create an opportunity for more income if the need arises. |

How do you charge for your services?For investments I am a fee only advisor and I receive mostly commission fees for insurance products but also may be fee only for some insurance products. |
If you are going to manage my account, will you obtain my permission every time you buy or sell something?Everything is detailed in our Investment Advisory Contract. We adhere to discretion over accounts. |
Will you be the only person working with me?Paul Fokken will be your only advisor. You may have other support people to help with administrative processes such as paperwork, applications, and meetings to be scheduled. |
What is your approach to 401 K plan rollovers?To take a look at each individual 401(k). Then decide if it is better for the client to leave it where it is at, roll it over into a another 401(k) or to roll it over into one of our investment strategies. We also make sure every rollover meets our suitability requirements. |
