This designation is designed to separate general financial planners from individuals who have met established standards of education, examination, experience and ethics. An advisor can receive upon earning at least one of the following designations: ChFC,PFS,CFP, Master of Science (MS) with a financial planning concentration, Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) with a financial planning concentration. Advisors must also pass an examination, and agree to adhere to a code of ethics. Thirty hours of continued education must be completed every 2 years.
